We are thrilled to announce that tickets for the 2020 Hāpi Symposium & Festival are on sale now! We have a great lineup of speakers and are looking forward to a fantastic event this year.
The Hāpi Symposium is a great opportunity for brewers and growers to get together and share information about the latest research and developments in hops and craft brewing. This year’s programme is focused on hop forward beer and all the elements that make these styles so exciting.
The Symposium will be held on April 3rd at The Opera House in Wellington NZ and the Hāpi Festival will be held on April 4th at Te Whaea National Dance & Drama Centre in Wellington NZ.

In Hop Breeding…
Thousands of seedlings are in the ground and growing well. We have commenced with scaling up our fast tracked advanced selections and hope to have meaningful quantities to grow for next year’s harvest.
New Educational Materials…
We keep growing our library of resources on the Hāpi website and have recently added a Weed Management Guide for Hops and a Guide to Analysing Your Site for Hops. The weed management guide has general information on weed management practices in hops, and the site analysis guide gives prospective growers a useful framework for examining the suitability of a site for hops. We’ve also added more useful links and and an academic article on hop dormancy and vernalization. This study challenges the conventional wisdom on the impact of dormancy and vernalization on hop yields and quality.
